About Basket Basket

Richard and Virginia from BasketBasket

BasketBasket is a family run business based in north east Hampshire. Having lived in France, owner Virginia fell in love with baskets but could never find them in the UK. We started selling a small selection of the traditional couffin style (French market basket) in January 2007 and went on to expand the range with the launch of BasketBasket in October 2008, as we wanted to offer an eco-friendly alternative to people who share our belief in the demise of the plastic shopping bag.

The handmade woven baskets, bags and raffia giraffes come directly from Madagascar, Morocco and Ghana. BasketBasket have established strong relationships with their suppliers, ensuring their talented artisans can continue the ancient tradition of weaving whilst being paid a fair wage.

Our products are all made with natural, sustainable materials and we also strive to ensure our packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible. Full details can be found on our Delivery page.

Woodlands Trust

Our baskets mainly come via sea and road, but occasionally some have to come via air. To offset this carbon we are members of the Woodland Trust who create new woods throughout the UK to help protect our environment.

Details of how amazing trees are can be found here: Woodland Trust.

Our baskets are now appearing in a variety of shops throughout the UK and Europe, as well as homes around the world. You can find our small French baskets in most Neal's Yard Remedies stores as their in-store shopping bag.

We will constantly be updating this website, as well as attending a number of events where we look forward to meeting our customers.

If you have any suggestions on our range of baskets or website, we would be delighted to hear from you. Either via email or call us on 01420 85112.

If you are interested in setting up a wholesale account with us, please do get in touch.
